What is Electromagnetic Wave?

Electromagnetic Wave

It is a concept that has its origins in French and is related to magnet and electricity. British Physicist James Maxwell discovered electromagnetic waves, or radio waves, in 1865. Hertz proved it. James Maxwell explained this with 4 laws. Electromagnetic waves change together. They propagate at the speed of light. They are ordered according to the energy they carry, wave and frequency. The electromagnetic wave direction is found with the right hand rule. The distance between two peaks is called a wave. The speed of propagation of the wave is obtained by multiplying the frequency with the wavelength. Electromagnetic waves can be polarized.

Electromagnetic Wave Types and Properties

Radio waves, Visible light, Infrared rays, X rays, Gamma rays, Micro waves, Infrared rays and ultraviolet rays are types of electromagnetic waves. Electromagnetic waves have no charge. They have the ability to spread in a vacuum. Since they are uncharged, they are not affected by the magnetic field and electricity. They are transverse waves and can be absorbed. The longest wavelength is Radio waves and also the shortest wavelength is gamma rays. The longer the wavelength, the lower the frequency. At the same time, the shorter the wavelength, the higher the frequency. While the wave velocity changes with the medium, the frequency does not change with the medium.

Electromagnetic Wave Benefits and Harms

Electromagnetic waves naturally benefit the body, just like sun rays. With the sun's rays, the body stores the necessary vitamin D. However, these sun rays can also be harmful. It causes neurological diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's. RNA leads to DNA defects. For this reason, it disrupts protein formation. It causes inattention, lack of concentration, headaches and nausea. It causes physical and mental illness. Attention should be paid to electromagnetic waves emitted from mobile phones. Radiation emitted from a mobile phone harms the body physically and mentally. It causes psychological disorders. The harms and benefits are still being discussed. It can even cause panic attacks. Electromagnetic waves cause many diseases such as cancer. One of the reasons why electromagnetic waves are harmful is the radiation they emit. Therefore, it is very threatening to health. Exposure to excessive radiation can lead to severe harmful conditions. These waves are propagated through gadgets such as phones, tablets and televisions.
